Photo Blog: A Day in Inflatable Island

Last year, I availed early bird tickets to the highly-anticipated Inflatable Island which was dubbed as the biggest floating playground in Asia. It was one of those compulsive buying moments when I usually regret where I put my money into. You see, I reserved our slots three months prior to the grand opening, fully unaware that the people behind Inflatable Island will go all out on social media marketing and promotion. As the opening day of Inflatable Island approaches, the hype increases! More and more people are showing interest in the “biggest playground in Asia”. At one point, I thought of selling the tickets (which I got for a lower price). I was convinced it was a stupid decision to book on a weekend. In summer.

Long story short: I decided to go with the original plan. I filed my leave, left Manila on a Friday in order to make in on time for our early morning schedule the following day. Inflatable Island is located inside Samba Bluewater Resort. However, we decided to stay in Subic Peninsular Hotel (located in Subic Freeport Zone). We tried to maximize our stay in the hotel which we availed at a discounted price through Metro Deal. Luckily enough, our accommodation was upgraded to a deluxe room because apparently, they thought we weren’t able to make it and gave our supposed room to other guests. Our schedule for the Inflatable Island was 8:00AM-10:00AM so we checked out early (after having free hotel breakfast, of course) and rode a taxi to the resort.

Upon arriving at the resort, we were given our ticket wristbands and were told to attend the brief orientation. After that, we left our bags in the locker area, secured a seat in the Bali Lounge, then went straight to the Inflatable Island.

Here is a list of  what you can to look forward to in Inflatable Island:

1. The Beach

The shore stretch boasts  of fine and cream sand lined with flags and coconut trees. It’s not as astounding as the other prominent beach destinations in the country, but it is not unpleasant either.

2. The Cool and Clear Seawater of Zambales

It’s not crystal blue, but the water was clear enough for you to see your GoPro falling into the sea ground if ever you accidentally let go of it. (Lelz. Hoping this would never happen to any of us or if it does happen, I hope we all have our floaters attached to it!)

Why of course, this is the main attraction. Ito ang pinunta natin dito! Here’s the deal: It was fun yet really exhausting. I did not enjoy playing around as much as I thought I would. It is definitely not easy to go one part of the island to the other. The inflatables are really slippery and there are some really crowded areas which make it hard for people to pass by. The stations require a great deal of body work. That is why I just opt for the ones I really wanted to try–like the giant slide and the Tarzan swing. If you are planning to visit Inflatable Island soon, I suggest you avail the 2-hour pass. I did not even last a full hour in the island! I was out of breath by the 30-minute mark and I had scratches all over my legs and knees due to countless slips and falls.

4. The Giant Floaties

I have no words. These floaters are just picture-perfect a.k.a. Instagram-worthy. It was a dream come true for a pooritang jologs like me. Hahaha! These kinds of floaters are just too pricey for my life. I wouldn’t dare spend Php 2,000 for a cute floater. Thanks to Inflatable Island, I was able to experience riding these cute floaties and take a bunch of photos for my Instagram while doing so.

5. The Bali Lounge

something colorful

This is my favorite part of the trip. I enjoyed this area more than the inflatable playground, tbh. I had so much fun staying by the lounge and eating the food we bought from the food truck containers. Having casual to deep conversations by the beach is my thing. The chill and laid-back ambience made it easier for us to relax and have the time of our lives at the beach.

After a few more photos and 2 servings of mango shake, we took a shower and headed back home at around noon.

As we are about to go home, walk-in visitors flock the resort. Unfortunately, Inflatable Island could not accommodate them anymore. So be sure to inquire first and reserve your slots ahead of time to avoid the same thing from happening to you.

Overall, it was a great experience. It is not every day that I get to be at the beach so I really appreciate quick getaways like this one. It may not be serene as how I usually want it, but the fact that it was different from my many other beach trips makes this trip a very memorable one.

Inflatable Island is located in Samba Bluewater Resort, Purok 6, National Highway, Lower Kalaklan, Olongapo City, Zambales.
