Typically, Silang is just a stopover destination for those who are bound for Tagaytay or Sta. Rosa. But just like any other overlooked town, Silang actually has a number of beautiful places to offer. Little did we know, it is home to some of the most beautiful and sought after churches in the province of Cavite.
Here are some of the most beautiful churches that can be found in Silang:
1. Our Lady of Candelaria Parish Church
Our Lady of Candelaria Parish Church or Silang church is known for its Spanish colonial architectural style and the rococo-influenced retablos. The church and retablo of the Our Lady of Candelaria Parish was declared as National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines on February 2017. It is considered one of the oldest churches in the province.
2. Divine Mercy Parish
The Divine Mercy Parish is one of the most solemn churches I have ever been to.The Diocesan Shrine is under the Vicariate of Our Lady of Candelaria. The peaceful ambiance makes the church a perfect place for reflection. If you are in search of peace of mind and healing of the soul, it wouldn’t hurt to visit Divine Mercy Parish. You can really feel the presence of the Lord in here.
3. San Antonio de Padua Parish
San Antonio de Padua Parish is one of the most popular wedding churches in Cavite. The church’s location is kind of secluded but it is definitely worth the long drive. The church is composed of two similar brick structures, with the other one acting as the bell tower. Overall, the church is very beautiful and serene. It gives off a rustic vibe which makes it perfect for a wedding.
The next time you are on your way to a weekend getaway in Tagaytay or Sta. Rosa, try to stop by these churches in Silang. I swear you won’t regret it. Just try to visit, meditate, offer some prayer, ask for guidance, or just pause and take the quiet time that you deserve. Not only they are beautiful, these churches can also provide you a peaceful break for your mind and soul.
Also, Lent has just begun so you may also want to try and consider these churches for your upcoming Visita Iglesia. Have a meaningful Lenten Season, everyone!
